WHY IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL MORE EFFECTIVE THAN PHOTOEPILATION?

Laser hair removal is the most effective hair removal method. The laser produces a high power single wavelength of light and works on the principle of selective photothermolysis, i.e. it precisely destroys the hair follicle and the surrounding cells from which the base of the hair is formed. Lasers are much more powerful than photo-epilation IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices, so you can get long-lasting results with lasers. Lasers, with their power to produce a single wavelength beam, are used for specific tasks such as hair removal. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) machines produce a beam of light, so they do not hit their target – the hair – accurately, but the melanin in the hair absorbs the light (less) effectively. Due to the low power of photo-epilation machines, hair follicles are not destroyed. The broad beam spectrum of IPL poses a higher risk of side effects. The effectiveness of the epilation procedure depends on the power of the device. Generally, pulsed light (photo-epilation) devices have a power of 10–15–50 J/cm² ((in comparison, the alexandrite laser can reach up to 150 J/cm²). Such low-power IPL machine only acts on the surface and is unable to destroy hair follicles, so even after seven to ten treatments hairs grow back faster. It should be noted that cosmetologists are allowed to work with very low-powered IPL machines. Because of their wide beam spectrum, IPL machines are not designed for hair removal alone; their use is much broader: removal of skin redness, hair, etc. However, because of their low power, the effectiveness of photoepilation machines is very low.

WHAT DISTINGUISHES THE ALEXANDRITE LASER?

The integrated DCD (dynamic cooling device) skin cooling system ensures safe and painless treatment of the skin with the high-energy pulse, while protecting the skin surface from damage.

WHAT SKIN PROBLEMS DOES THE ALEXANDRITE LASER TREAT?

Shaving, plucking and using hair removal creams – with those procedures, the hair is only removed for a short period of time. These treatments also often cause skin problems, as hairs start to grow into the skin, causing rashes, which are replaced by long-lasting, dark patches. If a bacterial infection starts, the skin is scarred. This is a problem for both women and men, whose post-shaving rashes become a reason for laser hair removal. As a result of laser hair removal, the hair follicles are destroyed. After one or two GentleLase Pro treatments, hairs no longer grow, spots and rashes disappear and the appearance of the skin improves significantly. The skin becomes healthier and smoother again.

IN WHICH AREAS CAN LASER HAIR REMOVAL BE PERFORMED?

Laser hair removal is usually performed on the face and body in women: upper lip, chin, cheeks, armpits, arms, bikini area and other areas, and in men: shoulders, waist, armpits, arms, back and abdomen area. HOW MANY LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS SHOULD I HAVE?

In the early growth phase, the hair contains the most pigment, so repeated treatments are necessary to remove as much hair as possible in this phase. A full course of treatments is necessary for long-lasting results. On average, three to six treatments are carried out. Often, after the third laser hair removal treatment with the alexandrite laser, the desired result is achieved. After the first treatment, the hairs fall out, their quantity is reduced for a long time, the hairs become thinner, less visible and cause far fewer cosmetic problems for the skin. After the first treatment, no hair grows. The treatment should be repeated every four to twelve weeks. The results of Alexandrite laser treatments are long-lasting. WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE TREATMENT?

IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFULA?

During the epilation, the patient feels a slight stinging and warmth with each alexandrite laser pulse. It is the only depilatory laser that integrates a specially designed cooling DCD system, so the skin is additionally protected during the treatment – cooled before and after the laser pulse. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

• Avoid sunbathing for 1 week before laser treatment or use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Do not use self-tanners before the procedure.
• Do not wax or epilate your hair for at least one month before the procedure. Other forms of hair removal, e.g. shaving, cutting, etc., which preserve the hair roots are permissible.
• Make sure you have a clean skin when arriving – having shaved your hair the same day or the night before. Note: It is not necessary to shave facial hair.
• Do not apply any irritating compounds such as glycolic acid, retinoids etc. to the skin 1 week before the procedure..
• If you are taking photosensitising medication, be sure to inform your doctor.
• If you have fair skin but darker hair, laser hair removal treatments will be more effective.
• In the case of perioral viral herpes infection, antiviral therapy may be prescribed if laser hair removal is performed in the facial area.
• The procedure will not be performed if you are pregnant. Breastfeeding mothers are allowed to have the procedure.
• Before the procedure, it is necessary to shave the hair on the body, in the area of hair removal. It is not necessary to shave facial hair.
